Windows 8.1 Review [Part 1]

Windows 8.1Windows 8.1: Another year in the oven makes for a tasty piece of meat

Reviewing an update to an operating system feels a little odd, doesn’t it? After all, if you already use Windows 8, it’s not like you’re not going to install Windows 8.1. Sure, there’s always the threat of compatibility issues, but Microsoft seems to have this one covered pretty well with the website (and scanning tool) that it’s dedicated to the Windows 8.1 update.

Windows 8.1 Review [Part 2]

Windows 8.1 Search

Here we go. One of the major “improvements” Microsoft has made to Windows 8.1 includes a complete reworking of the operating system’s core search functionality. Before, it was a bit of a convoluted mess —you’d start typing in Modern and, once entered a good enough number of letters to describe what you were looking for, you’d have to select what, exactly, you were trying to find: an app? A system setting? File? Some kind of data within an individual Windows 8 app?

Google Selling Motorola Phone Business To Lenovo For $2.9 Billion

San Francisco: Google is selling Motorola's smartphone business to Lenovo for $2.9 billion, a price that makes Google's biggest acquisition look like its most expensive mistake.
The deal announced on Wednesday will rid Google Inc. of a financial headache that has plagued the internet company since buying Motorola Mobility for $12.4 billion in 2012. Motorola has lost nearly $2 billion since Google took over, while trimming its workforce from 20,000 to 3,800.
Google had previously recovered some of the money that it spent on Motorola by selling the company's set-top operations last year to Arris Group Inc. for $2.35 billion. Google is also keeping most of the patents that came with the Motorola purchase.

Windows 8.1 Now Available, Brings Many New Features To The Table

Windows updates have so far only been the kind that fix "security holes", but Windows 8.1 branches away from the usual way MS does things and adds a whole lot of new features to the OS.
Windows 8.1 now available, brings many new features to the table
Microsoft Windows 8 gets a new lease of life, with the Windows 8.1 update that went live last night across Microsoft servers. The update should show up in the Windows Marketplace and if it doesn't, we suggest some patience as the roll out is happening sequentially.

Windows 8.1, just like Windows 8, is a fresh departure from what we have come to think and see of Microsoft Windows. Windows 8 in of itself was radically different in terms of user interface and user experience, but Microsoft takes it up a notch with this new update, which is less “service pack” and more of a powerful boost of features. Windows 8.1 is a downloadable update that add a host of new features to the operating system, something that’s a long departure from the updates we’ve seen in the past. Earlier, all Microsoft dished out was updates that fixed things in the “back,”Windows 8.1 brings a lot of new things you can actually see.

The Best Whatsapp Alternatives For Your Smartphone

There are a lot of alternatives to Whats app, but not all of them are worth downloading. We tell you which ones to set up on your phone. And no, we aren't accepting any applications from the IM apps piggybacking on a social network.
The best Whatsapp alternatives for your smartphone
Despite the fact that Whats app has more than 400 million users globally (as per the company's last reports), not everyone we know loves the Instant Messenger client. Some cannot be bothered to be “connected” with everyone who is in their mobile phonebook while others do not like the fact that Whats app isn't really very private, because just about anyone can send them a message unless specifically blocked. The app does lack a bit of sophistication as well, when compared to some of the rivals who sport better UIs and slicker deployment of features. And, all these faults could be forgiven except for the fact that it isn’t free once you finish the complementary usage period.
