Seagate Prepares 6-Terabyte Hard Drive

Seagate during a recent conference call announced its plans to release a 3.5-inch hard drive with the capacity of 6 TB (actually about 5.46 TB). Release of drives held in the second quarter of this year.

New items will be targeted for use in servers and workstations. Chairman of the Board of Directors of Seagate Steve J. Luczo Said:
The 6-TB HDD debut at the beginning of the second quarter, that is, one must understand in April. Devices include six plates volume of 1000 GB, the recording technology will remain the same – the perpendicular (PMR).

It is possible that these discs will be filled with helium for tighter organize plates (this method already has adopted WD).
