5 upcoming smartphone launches to watch out for in India this month
We have an interesting month ahead as some of the most interesting phones will be launched this month in India. The launches include two flagship smartphone from Sony and LG. Let's check out when each of the phone will be launched and what are the new things that each smartphone brings to the overall smartphone market in India.

1. Sony Xperia Z2
It would be needless to discuss the importance of Sony's flagship smartphone of 2014. The company's last year's flagship smartphone Xperia Z1 is still a very popular phone featuring great specs. Therefore we can expect a lot from Sony this year as well. When it comes to new features, the Z2 will be the first smartphone to feature a Live Colour LED which enables it to delived deep blacks and bright colours. It would feature an IPS display with X-Reality engine for crips output.
The Z2 will also feature 4K video recording as other manufacturers have also loaded their flagships with such capability. And just like its predecessors, Z2 will be waterproof and dust-resistant with IP55/IP58 certification. Another interesting addition for those who love gaming is the 'PlayStation Certified' capability of some Sony smartphones. Z2 will come the feature as well which will allow users to directly pair their PS3 DualShock controllers with the smartphone. Equipped with an MHL adapter (over HDMI), users of Z2 will be able to experience gaming on big screens as well. Featuring the latest Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.3GHz with Adreno 330 and 3GB of RAM makes it a killer buy. The price of the phone might be a downer at around Rs.50,000.
Expected launch date: 08 May
2. Nokia Lumia 630
Microsoft has lot of expectations from the Lumia 630 as its the first next-gen Windows Phone that runs WP 8.1. Microsoft has made typing easier in the latest WP OS by introducing the swipe-typing with Word Flow. The Lumia 630 will come with a 4.5-inch FWVGA display with Nokia's ClearBlack technology and Gorilla Glass 3 which makes it excellent for use especially outdoors. It will come with 4G/LTE connectivity options which makes the 630 a future phone and also features a 1830mAh battery. Microsoft promises that it will easily last a day of general use.
Expected launch date: 11/12 May
3. Moto E
Motorola had already created quite a stir with its mid-range smartphone Moto G. But as it seems, the oldest phone manufacturer isn't staying back but has hinted that it wants to target the low-budget category of smartphones as well. The rumoured Moto E is expected to be the next low-cost jewel from the company. Sporting a 4.3-inch HD display, it could be the cheapest phone to sport such a good quality display. It is also expected to boast a good battery backup with its 1900mAh which is even better than iPhone 5S's 1560mAh. It will come with Dual-SIM capability which is also a good add-on to have especially in India.
All this at a cost of less than $100. What more could you ask for? This smartphone is clearly expected to become a hit in budget-obssessed country like India.
Launch date: 13 May
4. Nokia XL
Nokia no more stands as a subsidiary of Microsoft today and during its last days before the acquisition, Nokia tried a hand at the world's most popular mobile phone operating system. Introducing a new family of Android-based smartphones hasn't turned out to be such a great hit for the struggling company. Nokia X did not create a buzz that was expected from the phone till last month. Now with the Nokia XL, the company is trying to attract Android enthusiasts by putting better specs. When it comes to the specs, the XL features similar specs as the Lumia 520. It is expected that phone will launch in the range of Rs.10,000 to Rs.12,000 which makes it a great buy considering the great build quality and its powerful specs. It features a 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with 768MB of RAM which is expected to make it a fast phone unlike the Nokia X. It will come with Dual-SIM functionality and 2000mAh battery which makes it great for India buyers.
After showcasing the smartphone at an event here in India today, Nokia is expected to launch the phone in the coming week. The phone is expected to hit the stands before 12 May.
Expected launch date: 11/12 May
5. LG G3
LG as a smartphone manufacturer might not create a similar stir as by the likes of Apple and Samsung. But when it comes to quality specs and good build quality, LG has always delivered. Even Google has trusted the company with its Nexus line of smartphones and even this year, it is expected that LG will manufacture the Nexus 6 smartphone. LG is said to introduce a new version its Optimus UI which will feature a flatter and rounded icons to make the phone look better. One of the most attractive features of LG G3 is expected to be its display. G3 will sport a 5.5-inch screen with a Quad HD (1440x2560) display making it one of the most sharpest screen ever with 534ppi. LG might release two versions of G3; one with the Quad HD screen and the other with a Full HD display. Such specs reflect that Nexus 6 might also come with great features..
