Hands On: Karbonn Titanium Octane
Remember how we told you that Karbonn had launched not one but two octa core devices? Well, you've read our first impression of the Titanium Octane Plus smartphone, now it's time for the Titanium Octane. At Rs 14.490, the device is the cheapest octa core device available in the market right now.

The Titanium Octane is the toned down version of the Karbonn Titanium Octane Plus. The device comes with a 13 mega pixel rear camera along with a 5 mega pixel front shooter. Both of these seemed to meet expectations, but a complete analysis can be given after the full review only.
Further, the Titanium Octane is a 12.7-cm (5-inch) device with an HD 720p screen. The display in question also looked good enough in normal lighting. In fact, it was much more to our expectations than the Octane Plus' full HD screen.
The device also boasts the Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS, which brings out the processing power of the device. Like it's big brother, the presence of the 1.7 GHz MediaTek MT6592 octa core processor is very evident.
The touch response on the demo.unit was above par and it did not exhibit any lags. Keep in mind though that this was a device that was almost completely free of other apps and wasn't connected to the internet.
To put it simply, it performed well without any pressure being put on it. The full review will show us what it does under duress.
Perhaps the one department where we can't question the Titanium Octane is the storage space available on the device. It has 16 GB of internal storage with a micro-SD card slot that allows expansion up to 32 GB. Definitely enough for whatever you want to do with it.
Finally, the Titanium Octane has a nice build. It feels good to hold, with the matte finish on the back providing some grip. Unlike the Titanium Hexa and Octane Plus, this device has a curved bottom, which makes it look pretty sleek.
It's not very heavy either and makes for a good fit in your pocket or hand.
Overall, the Titanium Octane seems to be good for it's price. The touch response we saw was good, except for the touch buttons (back, home and settings) at the bottom of the screen. It is not very heavy and neither is it overtly big. We saw the red version and it was quite sleek.
