Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0 Revamp Keeps the Lines of a Galaxy Hit







Looking back in time, it's clear that people loved the design of the Galaxy S II, actually so much that Samsung felt it and integrated some of the design lines within Galaxy Note 3.

It also included some elements from the first Note, if you ask me.

But what about the players?

Nexus X Concept Has Realistic Specs




What are the odds of finding yet another Nexus X concept just hours after the first one?

Well, we did find one, this time a smaller and more normal device, created by Matteo Lobello.

He envisions a slight upgrade of the Nexus 5, apparently.


The Nexus X shown here has a 13 megapixel rear camera, 2 megapixel front shooter and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.7 GHz.

Vive Phone Concept Features Tegra 3 CPU, New OS Called Mize

Tired of all the operating systems flying around? Well, there's a new one here, a concept called Mize OS, that has been created by Raflykurnia from Deviantart. This device is his first concept, so be gentle with the critique.






The phone render body is inspired greatly by HTC Touch Diamond and the handset comes with 4G LTE, WiFi, a 4 inch IPS LCD display with LED backlight and the Nvidia Tegra 3 quad core processor at 1.6 GHz as the brain.

There's also 1 GB of RAM, 32 GB of storage and a 38 megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash and Carl Zeiss lens. We've also got a 3 megapixel front camera and that new OS called Mize.



It's supposed to be a very simple platform, one that seems to show the main social networking apps and the browser as tiny square shortcuts at the bottom of the screen.

Everything is floating on the screen, without proper icons to hold them down, if I can say so. Other specs of this Vive Phone include a Wolfson audio chip, a 2600 mAh battery and a Kevlar body that's shock resistant and water resistant.

Sony XTRUD 




Sony XTRUD is to me what Apple could have come up if they kept their wild spirit of the early 2000s… Designer Rybarczyk Francois did a fantastic job with this smartphone and he deserves a standing ovation for it. The Sony XTRUD concept features a sustainable and economic vision of the modern world. The handset incorporates one part that includes all the components and a simple aluminum profile.

The idea is to easily replace all components via a modular concept. You can change the camera module with the newest Sony cam, but let’s be honest here: phone makers are afraid of such devices, because they wouldn’t sell their new models, that’s why we’ll never see such a phone. The Sony XTRUD feels a bit like a combo between a Nokia Lumia and an iPod, with a twist of the designer’s unique approach.
A nifty idea is the volume control by rotating the wheel at the lower area of the device. The result here is a beautiful and original Sony Android concept, that actually looks hot and will last for many years thanks to the modular approach.


















Virtual Touch Concept Smartphone of the Future

Here's a concept that doesn't necessarily feature 1000 cores in its CPU, but rather relies on a new touch technology.

The handset uses Virtual Touchscreen tech aka ViTo, a control system that allows you to replace the typical touch experience with a gesture based one. This design is created by Andrey Kamaev.




The handset you see here incorporates high resolution cameras withdynamic stabilization and infrared range detection.

The display contains aside from lines of pixels some sensors with sensitivity to infrared radiation.

Infrared pixels will receive light in a narrow spectral range.

This smartphone of the future also comes with an unique interface and control via voice and gestures.



There will be two cameras on the edges of the phone, that will detect your eyes and detect the time needed to focus on a virtual keyboard.

The phone concept 'feels' your point of view and the desired key.

The smartphone will support induction charging and it will be powered by photovoltaic cells, too, so sun charging is also here.





HTC One 3D  Feels Like a Combo of HTC One and HTC First  


Suman Chatterjee created a new an interestingHTC concept smartphone, one that combines a bit of HTC One and a bit of HTC First, or so it seems to me. As you can see, the back is pretty much similar to the HTC One, but this time we get a 3D dual camera.



This model comes with Beats Audio and probably has some cool special apps for 3D capture, photo and video editing in 3D. Since the handset handles 3D content, it may require a more potent CPU, maybe something like the Snapdragon 800 or even a superior generation. The last HTC 3D phone and the last LG 3D phone were not big hits and the whole tridimensional graphics trend was gone pretty fast.



2013 brought us zero 3D phones and tablets, at least big brand models and I guess that it will stay this way. I suppose people would rather have bigger batteries and higher resolutions than useless 3D graphics. How do you feel about the HTC One 3D?

Android 5.0 UI and Lockscreen Concept by Jinesh Shah


While strolling around Google in search of smartphone renders and designs, I came across the following Android 5.0 UI concept created by Jinesh Shah. He imagined an interesting interface, that can be seen below and yes folks, we're truly a long way fromKey Lime Pieright now...



Straight from the lockscreen you would have access to Voice Search and a redesigned and scrollable Google Now lockscreen widget that's integrated with the Notifications. Basically, he evolved the idea of lockscreen widgets into something more. We've also got a transparent task bar now and a brand new and minimalist clock widget. There's also a redesigned Google Search widget in this Android 5.0 render, but not by much.

Now you can pull down the notification bar in part and see a bit of it, for example the music widget. There's also the option to have overlapping widgets that can be ''tucked'' to the sides, as shown in the images below. By the way, the 30 Seconds to Mars new album is not that good...aside from the track End of All Days.

Sony Walkman is Back Baby! New Model Adopts Xperia Branding, Looks Hot!  


Victor Cao offers us a new vision on the Walkman series of music phones, giving them the Xperia branding and a new look. The new device pictured here is the Sony Xperia W concept, that has an iPhone-ish back side.




The handset uses virtual buttons on Android and the typical Walkman player with minimalistic options. This Walkman smartphone has all the best acoustic technologies one can get nowadays: Clear Bass, Clear Audio and S Master MX. Specs of the Xperia Walkman W include a 1.7 GHz quad core CPU, probably the Snapdragon 400 or 600 and 2 GB of RAM, as well as NFC and maybe 32 GB of storage.

Theconcept Xperiameasures 9 mm in thickness and seems to bundle a pair of sexy headphones  . The front side of the Xperia W is to me a combo between the latest Xperia designs and the Samsung Omnia 7 for some reason. By the way, the display incorporated here is a 4.6 inch Triluminos HD display, probably with Full HD res. Is the Walkman back yet?

Sony Xperia UX Has a Triluminos Display, Midrange 2014 Specs 


The Sony Xperia UX is a concept created by Ben Ling and its specs sound like 2014 midrange material. The handset packs a 4.3 inch HD screen withTriluminos displaytechnology and this tech was already spotted on a recent Sony Vaio Duo device unveiled at Computex 2013.



The Xperia UX uses Gorilla Glass 3 technology with shatter proof abilities, a 13 megapixel camera with LED flash and HDR and also an Exmors RS sensor for mobile. There's dust and water proofing and the back camera does 16x digital zoom. ThisXperia concept also incorporates a 2.2 MP front camera with HDR and 1080p capture, a quadcore Snapdragon 400 CPU and a removable battery.

It has PlayStation certification, uses an Adreno 305 GPU and all of that is crammed inside a 7.5 mm thick shell. The phone weighs 125 grams, packs in 2 GB of RAM, 4G LTE connectivity and Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. We've also got Sony Mobile Bravia Engine 2 technology, glove input support, Sony White Magic technology, xLOUD experience and a Li-Ion 2500 mAh battery.

Nokia Lumia Z is a 5 inch Smartphone with Windows Phone 8.1

Although Nokia seems more focused on naming its devices with Lumia and then some numbers, who says that they won't change this pattern once the Lumias start selling less well?

Well, we have a fresh concept based on that idea, one that's dubbed Nokia Lumia Z and it was designed by Rixxan Z.






This phone packs a 5 inch display and comes with 16, 32 or 64 GB of storage, a front 3 megapixel camera and a rear 12 megapixel shooter, although the image here has them the wrong way, obviously.

Inside the handset there's a quad core CPU and other specs include a non removable Li-Ion 3000 mAh battery, as well as Windows Phone 8.1 as the OS..




The device's design is all squared up and it looks basically like a thinner brick, which is not exactly my cup of tea.

I'd see this model as a Lumia 6xx series or maybe 7xx. Also, I think that the battery inside is a bit big by today's Windows Phone standards.


The Hook Bracelet Phone Concept Runs Windows Phone in a New Format 

Windows Phone is the kind of OS that pretty much explains the hardware platform it's on: handsets.

It can however pop up on the occasional bracelet or watch concept, like the one shown here. Created by Mindaugas (Gus) Petrikas, The Hook is a bracelet phone with Windows Phone 8 on board.






This is basically a smartphone that can twist and bend around your wrist and be worn that way.

It has a curved shaped and it kind of reminds me of the Microsoft arc mouse.

The screen seems pretty crisp and it has a very small bezel.

The belt bundled with the phone is pretty fashionable and sturdy and I totally dig that cool Home button.




The device comes in a few colors and it's incredibly thin, for a unit that should house a CPU, storage, RAM and possibly a camera.











Android 5.0 Concept Rendered by Toshe Andonov Makes Your Screen Busy

We've seen an interesting Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie concept before, but here's another one, with a different approach.

This one comes from Toshe Andonov and it's based on a busier homescreen than before, with Google Now integrated in it, among others.






Cards get a new design and you can also use custom themes, for a personalized look.

There are more cards available with more features and deeper integration with the device. There's vertical scrolling available here and a new multitasking feature, plus the new concept of 'app inside an app from your notification drawer'.

The notification bar moves down and it's able to integrate with the navigation bar.



The idea is to get more space on the screen when running full screen apps.

The search bar is placed on the top, very easily accessible and you can now make a two finger tap on a card to show more info and controls.

If you swipe from the left or right edge of the screen you can access the Jelly Bean style lockscreens, where you can add widgets and shortcuts.

The homescreen has become 'smart', according to Toshe Andonov, with the major cards popping up higher, while the ones that already existed are place to the bottom.

The Hangouts chat will be pushed on your feed, with a quick reply option and you can learn more about this approach from the gallery below.

















iPhone 6 Edge to Edge Render and a Smaller iPhone 6S 

I've seen a lot of edge to edge display phones lately and an iPhone with this approach sounds really interesting.

John Morrison imagined not only an iPhone 6 with such a screen, but also an iPhone 6S with a smaller diagonal size.




The body of the iPhone 6 is also changed a bit and it seems to be fully metallic now and packing a new set of buttons.

The handset has a 1080p display and also relies on a new Home button, a square with rounded edges. The new Home button is sensitive to touch and it will glow red when the battery is low.

It will also flash when you get a notification.




The camera at the back is still an 8 megapixel affair, but it's able to do 60 FPS Full HD video.

The iPhone 6S is the smaller version of the iPhone 6, as shown below.

The diagonal of the main iPhone 6 is 4.8 inches, while the 6S measures 4.2 inches and supports a 840 x 1680 pixel resolution.

Finally, the main handset comes with 64 GB of storage, while the smaller one gets 32 GB.
